So how can you promote your school using Youtube? Today we are talking SEO, and we are about to give you some free tips on how to increase your international student recruitment chances right now using Youtube.

Recent statistics reveal that Youtube has over 1.5 billion monthly active users watching over an hour of content per day. That means that your target audience and potential students and their parents are definitely paying attention and are active on youtube.

The question is, how do you reach them, and most importantly – how do you position videos in your content to actually be visible and get discovered and to instantly attract new students. We are going to talk about the three main ways you are getting discovered on youtube and give you some actual strategies that you can apply to reach your targets.

How do people discover videos on Youtube?

Science has proved that 66% of our views come from Search and Suggested videos.

Youtube Search

Everybody is familiar with this one. You just enter the topic that you are interested in and you get results. For example, you may search for “How to recruit students internationally”, and you get around 44,000 results on this or related to this topics.

One strategy that works really well here is to add a Call-to-action button to your video. This is important to get people from Youtube to your other channels (website, landing page) in order to get their email and build a nice contact list.

Another rule of thumb to remember is to invite your visitors to subscribe for your channel, clicking on the “subscribe” button under your video. This helps you reach much more people in the future.

Suggested Videos

Another way to discover a video on Youtube is to select in from Suggested videos. These are the videos that you see on the right side, next to the video currently playing. You see these videos, because Youtube as a machine is promoting and pushing videos.

The trick here is to create a cluster of your own suggested videos to keep people binging content on Youtube. Make sure to create a video series, so you can dominate your own suggested videos. Use different, but related to each other topics to get people binge your content. This will also help to get into suggested videos of other Youtube users.

Google Search

Everybody is familiar with that fact that Google is a parent company of Youtube. So, naturally, Google is favouring Youtube, and as a result it is showing many youtube videos when you are using google search.

It is important to also note that pages with videos are around 53 times more likely to rank higher on Google search results. So Google search engines prioritise video results, and if you have a blog, or a website, you should definitely be embedding Youtube videos.

So, Youtube in its core essence, represents robots working on your behalf to distribute your videos. If you master the machines, than you can really master Youtube. Just imagine having at least ten strong leads/students discovering you every day. Doesn’t it sound great? Of course it does! Imagine what this could do for your school. This is really powerful.
